Audrey Jean Mahan

Audrey Jean Mahan Charlotte, Michigan Audrey died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the age of 85. She was born in Cadillac, Michigan on January 16, 1926, the daughter of Ion and Ila Parr, who soon moved to the family farm in Chester Township. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1943 and from Michigan State College Short Course in Home Economics in 1944. She married E. Dale Mahan on June 27, 1948 who preceded her in death in 2009. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2009. She is survived by four children; Kathy Ann Rice of Minnesota, Terri Mahan of Arizona, Jeffrey Mahan of Florida and Gregory (Ginger) Mahan of Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Importantly also, many loving sisters and brothers-in-law; Barbara and Keith French, Mary Lou and Max Powers, Janette Johns, Ila Mae Young and all their children. Audrey was a loving and caring mother with special love for all children. One of her great enjoyments after her children were through school was working for twelve years at the Charlotte Junior High School as secretary to principal, Mr. Walter Honshell. Audrey was a life member of Eastern Star and held all of the Star Points and was Worthy Matron throughout the years. After retirement, Audrey and Dale spent 27 years in Florida during the winter months, enjoying golf, bridge, great friends and warm weather. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday directly preceding the Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make contributions to the Charlotte Maple City Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star or to the Shriners Crippled Children Hospital.
