Barbara Jean Curtis age 78 of Charlotte, MI, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after a short illness. Barbara was born Feb. 16, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of Doria J. and Thecla I. (Findorff) Maher and had been a Charlotte resident for about 50 years. She was a retired Pharmacist having been employed at the former Sherman’s Pharmacy and Wildern’s Drug Store both of Charlotte. She was a member of the GFWC Charlotte, was a Volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, Volunteered at Eaton Community Hospice where she enjoyed preparing meals for the residents and their families and enjoyed playing Bridge with her Lady Friends. Surviving are five children, Jamie M. Curtis of Charlotte, Keith L. (Debra) Curtis of Northport, FL, Michael J. (Rebecca) Curtis of Charlotte, Necia A. D’Alessandro of Lansing and Lynnet Kathleen (Steven) Curtis-Boomgaard of Lake City, MI; 11 grandchildren, including special granddaughters, Alexis Paige Boomgaard and Taylor Danielle Lahr; one great granddaughter and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister & brother-in-law, Lois M. & John Rose. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 P. M. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Tom Jones of First Congregational Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until time of services at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S.
