Barbara L. Nelson

Barbara L. (Grier) Nelson of Charlotte, MI, age 96, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at the Hope Landing Assisted Living Home in Charlotte. Mrs. Nelson was born November 30, 1920 in Charlotte the daughter of Paul and Lenore (Edman) Grier and was a lifelong Charlotte area resident. She was a 1938 Graduate of Charlotte High School and had been employed at the Eaton County Abstract Office in Charlotte from where she retired. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and received enjoyment from reading, doing needlework and home gardening. Surviving are: her son, William (Susan) Nelson of Delton, MI; grandchildren, Jeremy (Shay) Nelson, Tonia (Jon) Aho and Carrie (Randy) Brown; great grandchildren, Isabella, Breydan and Trask; her sister, Julia Weaver; sister-in-law, Pauline Grier and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 65 years, Joseph L. Nelson in 2008; son, John Nelson in 2015 and brothers, Edman Grier, Jim Grier and Donald Grier. A private family graveside service will take place at Millerburg Cemetery, Charlotte. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Gary Wales officiating with one hour of visitation prior to the service.
