Barry Barnett

Barry Elbert Barnett, age 69, of East Leroy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born April 19, 1951, in Charlotte, the son of Adam and Ollie (Cole) Barnett. Barry graduated from Olivet High School with the class of 1969. He worked as a millwright for Post Cereal in Battle Creek for over 23 years. On June 1, 1996, he married Carol Ann McCuaig. Barry was also a master carpenter and would put his skills to work flipping houses. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino and had a passion for hotrods. Family was the most important thing in Barry’s life. He cherished his family and loved spending time together. Barry was a peace maker and always wanted everyone to get along. If there was a family issue, Barry would soon call a “Coming to Jesus Meeting” to settle the issue. He had a heart of gold and was a tremendous role model to his grandchildren. Barry is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Malisa (Michael) Trayer of East Leroy; Doug (Dana) Morton of Litchfield; siblings: Louise (Lowell) Greene, Judy (Lester) Robinson, Cindy (Dale) Waun; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donnie; and son, James Morton of Arizona. A celebration of Barry’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 1 P.M. at the Faith Assembly of God, 9800 S. Cochran Ave., Olivet, MI 49076, with Pastor Todd McLane officiating. The family will receive friends form 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the church. Burial will follow at Rice Creek Cemetery.
