Betty Jean Barnard

Betty Jean Barnard, age 86, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at Eaton Community Palliative Care. She was born July 26, 1932, in Tawas, MI the daughter of William and Mabel (Holmes) Leslie. On August 22, 1952, she married James Edward Barnard at the Olivet Congregational Church. Betty and Jim faithfully served their Lord and Savior on the mission field in Liberia, West Africa for many years with the Assemblies of God. After their term in Liberia they went on to serve in Brussels, Belgium. Upon their return to Springfield, MO, Betty continued to serve others in the form of a foster parent. This was an endeavor that brought her much joy. Later in life when Jim passed away, Betty moved back to Michigan. She was involved in the Charlotte Assembly of God for many years. Betty is survived by her children: Bethany Horton of Charlotte, Michael Barnard of Burbank California; grandchildren: Jason Gross, Kara (Joe) Timreck, Allison (Eli) Bush; great grandchildren: Jameson, Jeffery, Jonathon, Landyn, Abigail, Tre, Harlyn; sister, W. Roberta Wilson; son-in-law, Michael (Marcie) Williams; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Barnard; daughter, Evelyn Ruth Williams. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Rev. David Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet.
