Carrie Louise Clay

Carrie Louise (McGinnes) Clay of Grand Rapids, formerly of Charlotte, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the home of her daughter at Grand Haven, MI. Louise was born Sept. 7, 1921 in Charlotte the daughter of Harvey P. and Aura (Munroe) McGinnes. She had lived most of her life in Charlotte before moving to the Grand Rapids area to be nearer to her family. She was a 1939 Graduate of Charlotte High School, was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Deborah Circle and was a member of the Church Choir. She had been a leader for the Camp Fire Girls. She had been a Secretary at the Charlotte Insurance Agency from where she retired on Dec. 31, 1984 after 24 years of service. She is survived by her children, Brenda L. Clay-Wepman of Grand Rapids, William D. Clay of Denver, CO and Barbara J. (Ronald) Kraley of Grand Haven; eight grandchildren, Sarah E. (Joel Wabeke) Wepman, Joshua R. (Laura Milan) Wepman, Lucas A. Wepman, Christopher M. (Tina) Clay, Joseph D. Clay, Allisen L. Kraley, Meghan I. (Scott Vokes) Kraley and Jessica R. (Daniel) Cross and four great grandsons, Tayler Kraley, Christopher M. Clay, Jr, Kathan C. Clay and Harrison Wepman-Wabeke. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald B. Clay, brother, Harold P. McGinnes, MD and sister-in-law, Elizabeth McGinnes. Per Mrs. Clay’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, 210 E. Lawrence Ave. in Charlotte with Rev. Terry Fisher, Rev. Verne Summers and Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may go to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church.
