Carroll E. Tharp

Carroll E. Tharp of Charlotte, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at 2:34 PM at home with family after losing a battle with cancer. He was born May 23, 1930 to Roy and Ruth (Blanchard) Tharp and was a life resident of Charlotte. He believed he was created by our Lord to serve others. Carroll worked for the public school system, including Potterville and Charlotte for over 30 years and volunteered at Hayes-Green-Beach outpatient surgery for 10 years until he was not able to because of the cancer. Preceding him in death were his mother and father; brothers, Donald, Clare, Richard, Maurice and Ion. Surviving are: his wife, Diann; Sisters, Cela Krieg and Sarah Rachel (Devon) Wiley; Sister-in-law, Kate Tharp; Sons, David (Betsy) of Chicago and Mark; Daughters, Sharon Gault of South Carolina and Diana Tharp; Stepdaughters, Cheryl (Dean) Bliss and Cassandra Gibbs; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte with Rev. Gary Wales officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
