Caryl J. Hanley of Charlotte, MI, age 86, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 with her loving family at her side. Caryl was born December 23, 1928 in Jackson, Ohio the daughter of Arbella and Othella (Busler) Arthur and was a longtime Charlotte resident. She was a Graduate of Flat Rock, MI High School. She married Hubert Hanley in 1950 in Flat Rock, MI who was a Michigan State Policeman for 25 years. He was so proud of the MSP. Caryl worked for many years as a medical assistant in many cities Herb was transferred to in the upper and lower Peninsula. While in Charlotte she had worked for Dr’s Joseph & Leeser and served as a Volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital at the Gift Basket and many other fund raisers. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and it’s Lydia Circle, was an active member of the Eaton Area Senior Center, was a former member of the O. E. S. of Charlotte and belonged to the Auxiliaries of the V. F. W. and the American Legion. She leaves her children, Joyce (Roger) Emrick of West Virginia and Patrick (significant other, Cara O'Connell) Hanley of Charlotte; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, including 2 special nieces, Alisa Polifrone of Nebraska & Sharon Polifrone of Elbern, IL. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Hubert Hanley and brother, Dick Arthur. Per Caryl’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Gary Wales officiating.
