Charles I Christensen

Charles I. “Chuck” Christensen Charlotte, Mich. Age 90, died peacefully on January 25, 2012, with his family by his side. He will be remembered for his hard work, willingness to help others and his love for family and friends. Chuck was born May 21, 1921 in Belding, MI, the son of Arthur B. and Mary (Dietz) Christensen. He Joined the Army in 1943 and served in WWII. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his service and was honorably discharged in 1945. He retired from Olofsson Corp. in 1979. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2406, C.C.C. and D.A.V. He married his wife, Frances L. Wilkinson, on March 9, 1946 in Belding, MI and together they raised two boys (Charles and William) and a daughter (Anne). At age 66, he went back to school and received his high school diploma, which was presented to him by his son, William. Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fran; son Charles (Kathy) Christensen of Clinton, MI; son William (Leigh Ann) Christensen of Eaton Rapids, MI; daughter Anne (Karl) Cupp of Vermontville, MI; sister Maudie Harrington of Belding, MI; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father (Arthur), mother (Mary), stepfather (William Pretzel), 2 brothers, 3 sisters and son, Jerry. The family would like to thank Eaton Community Hospice House of Charlotte for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, 206 West Lawrence Avenue, Charlotte, MI. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home.
