Charles Sparks

Charles Sparks, age 78 of Charlotte, MI, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Charles was born May 22, 1933 in Lansing, MI the son of Joe M. and Anna (Glock) Sparks and had lived most of his life in the Charlotte area. He was a 1951 Graduate of Charlotte High School and had been employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Charlotte from where he retired. Previously he worked at the former Charlotte Appliance Store and Fowler’s Farm Store. He also operated his own excavating business. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and attending Steam Engine and Old Time Tractor shows. Surviving are: his wife of almost 59 years, Leah (King) Sparks; one daughter, Sue (Ted) Lautner of Lapeer, MI; grand daughter, Michelle Lautner of Lansing; grandson, Michael (Tatiana) Niculitcheff-Lautner of Sao Paulo, Brazil; brother, Russell (Sharon) Sparks of Loveland, CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, May Catherine Young and JoAnn Sparks and special aunt, Alberta Glock. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Paul Damkoehler officiating. Interment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet, MI. Visitation will be held from 3-8 P. M. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the Funeral Home.
