Charles W. Bennett

The Lord accepted into His arms, Charles W. Bennett, 67 of Charlotte, MI on April 14, 2012. Charlie passed away in Corpus Christi, Texas where he enjoyed being a Winter Texan for the last 4 winters. Charlie was born December 7, 1944 to C. Wayne and Leota (Galusha) Bennett. Charlie was a retiree of General Motors, member of UAW Local 652, volunteer with the Corpus Christi Habitat for Humanity and a self employed building contractor owning Bennett Builders. Charlie was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing with friends including his best friend, his wife Katherine. Charlie and Kathie had the opportunity to spend the winters for the last five years traveling the United States, meeting new friends along the way. Charlie had a passion for creating objects from wood. His talents encompassed anything from small, finely crafted wood dishes, vases, and furniture to pole barns and houses. Charlie also had a passion and dedication to his family and friends. Everyone else frequently came first. If there were “leftovers” he would focus on himself. He prided himself on living a life of quiet faith and fairness to others. He often said towards the end of his life that his only regrets were not seeing his special granddaughter graduating from high school and getting married. He adored her every day and spent many of his last days entertaining his care givers with special stories about their times together. Charlie is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Katherine. Additionally, his is survived by his step-daughter, Amber (Marvin) Argersinger, granddaughter, Kyla, mother-in-law, Dorothy Shattuck, sister-in-law, Dawn, brothers-in-law, James and Randy, an abundance of friends, three sisters and one nephew. Cremation has taken place. A service celebrating Charlie’s life and accomplishments will be scheduled at a later date.
