Darlene A. Folsom of Charlotte, MI, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Eaton County Health & Rehabilitation Services in Charlotte. Mrs. Folsom was born May 4, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd A. and Margaret (Carpentier) Brown and had been a Charlotte resident since 1957 coming from Iowa. She was a Graduate of East High School in Des Moines. Was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and it’s Naomi Circle since 1957, was a member of the Charlotte Country Club and was an active member of the Eaton Area Senior Center. She was an avid Bridge player, enjoyed working out at ALIVE and was an “Artist At Heart.” She especially enjoyed time in Japan from 1946-48 with her husband while he was stationed there in the Military Occupational forces after World War Two. She had been employed as a Bookkeeper & Secretary for Michigan National Bank and for 28 years owned the Creative Gifts & Ceramics Studio in Grand Ledge and Charlotte. Surviving are: three children, Edward (Joanne) Folsom, Jr. of Traverse City, Rene` (Richard) Whitten of Las Vegas, NV and Lisa Bevis of Salisbury, NC; 7 grandchildren, Clay (Stacey) Folsom, Sarah (Ryan) Barrett, Kris (Stevi) Whitten, Brooke (Sean) Gaskin, Ethan Whitten, Spencer Bevis, Jr. and Addison Bevis; 4 great grandchildren, Joanna, Andrew, Audrey and Noah and special nieces, Virginia of DeMoines and Connie Margaret of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings and her husband, Edward Folsom, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte with Rev. Gary Wales officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may go to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church or the Eaton Area Senior Center.
