David H. Sloan, age 73, of Olivet passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born October 22, 1944 in Charlotte to Harold and Esther Sloan. David graduated from Olivet High School in 1963 and spent a year at Western Michigan University. He was a military policeman in the Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was very proud to be a veteran. David retired after 44 years of service from Air Way Manufacturing in Olivet, where he worked as the manager of customer service. David married Sharon Laing in 1966 and spent 51 wonderful years together. Theirs was a true love story. He was an avid reader, who also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and camping with his family and friends. David loved his family especially his grandchildren and loved spending time together. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters: Michele (Eric) Ward of Kalamazoo, Deborah (Jeff) Yost of Olivet; granddaughters: Sloan Davis, Alexandria Davis; grandsons: Forrest Ward, William Ward; step grandsons: Ethan Yost, Tyler Yost; sister, Karen Sullivan of Gaylord; and brother, Mark Sloan of Sheboygan, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2017 at 1 PM at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Lee Center Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions in Davids honor to the Olivet Lions Club or the Olivet Fire Department.
