David R. Barrus of Kentwood, MI, formerly of Charlotte, MI, age 87, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Breton Rehabilitation and Living Center in Kentwood. David was born September 27, 1926 in Ovid, MI the son of Reno and Mabel (David) Barrus. He was a 1943 Graduate of Ovid High School and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War Two. He was a retired rural mail carrier out of the Sunfield, MI Post Office. He had held memberships in the Charlotte American Legion Post, the Sunfield Lions Club, the Mulliken Masonic Lodge and the Shriners in Tampa, Florida. Surviving are: his wife of 69 years, Donna (Vance) Barrus; 6 children, Gary (Michelle) Barrus of Florida, Carol (Gary) May of Charlotte, Tom Barrus of Charlotte, Ron Barrus of Michigan, Douglas (Cindy) Barrus of Sunfield and Dan (Anne) Barrus of Midland; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his son, SSGT David W. Barrus in 1970; daughter-in-law, Cindy Barrus and sister, Alice DuBois. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, 206 W. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte, MI 48813.
