David W. Martens Charlotte, Michigan David W. Martens, age 62 of Charlotte passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in Lansing. David was born April 14, 1951 in Charlotte the son of Grant and Alice (Wright) Martens and lived most of his life in the Charlotte area. He was a 1969 Graduate of Bellevue High School and had been employed for 20 years at AE-Hoover in Charlotte and for 19 years at Battle Creek Steel and Wire Co. He was a member of the Kalamo Masonic Lodge #327 and had served as a Volunteer at the Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital in Charlotte. He loved reading, research, history and talking with people. He enjoyed exploring by way of Computers. Surviving are: his mother, Alice (Wright) Martens; sisters, Ruth (Dick) Avery of Bellevue and Gail (Mike) Dye of Charlotte; Nieces and nephews, Darren (Katy) Avery, Brian Dye, Amanda (Paul) Hubinsky, Matthew (Kelly) Dye, Andrew (Rosa) Dye, Mary Ann (Justin) Ball and Sarah Dye and 7 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Grant B. Martens. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Bryce Feighner, Pastor Dan Phillips and Kalamo Masonic Lodge #327 officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the Charlotte Community Library.
