Donnie Lee Barnett

Donnie L. Barnett of Bellevue, MI, age 76, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Don was born May 17, 1938 in Lee Township, Calhoun County the son of Adam and Ollie (Cole) Barnett and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a 1956 Graduate of Olivet High School, had attended Kellogg Community College, was a former member of the Olivet Rotary Club and was a member of the Faith Assembly of God. He had been employed driving Truck for Warren-Scherer of Marshall, was a Cable Technician for Horizon Cable, had worked for Fisher-Body Division of General Motors, was a lifelong farmer and was co-owner of Jan and Don’s Restaurant & Lounge in Olivet. Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Jan (Morrison) Barnett; eight children, Diana Braden and Debra Cummings both of Bellevue, Donnie Barnett, Jr. of Marshall, Gary Barnett of Battle Creek, Dawn (Jerry) Stone of Battle Creek, Darla (Brad) Tennant of Deerfield, MI, Patricia (John) Moore of Henderson, TN and Sam Bowen of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Barry (Carol) Barnett of Battle Creek; three sisters, Faye (Lowell) Greene, Judy (Lester) Robinson and Cindy (Dale) Waun all of Olivet and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; special grandson, Johny Cummings and 3 sons-in-law, Frank Cummings, Tim Cole and Bill Braden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte with Pastor Todd McLane officiating. Interment will be in the Rice Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 27, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
