Dwight Lee Heisler of Olivet, MI, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Eaton Community Palliative Care with his loving family at his side. Dwight was born October 19, 1930 to Andrew and Norine (Sharp) Heisler. He graduated from Olivet High School in 1949 and was a lifelong farmer. He married the love of his life, Helen Jewell on January 28, 1955. They would have celebrated 62 years together this month. Shortly after they married he went into the Army for a brief period of time. In 1958, they bought a farm, the same farm they own to this day. They both worked hard and raised a family there. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Christina, Jean, and Marie and later two granddaughters, Sara and Jenni. He was proud and loved all his girls. After 3 generations of girls he was overjoyed to welcome a great grandson, Kasen Douglas, who he adored. He was a 46 year member of the Marshall Moose Lodge, was a member of the Charlotte Eagles and the Eaton County Farm Bureau. For 22 straight years he enjoyed walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. Surviving are: his wife, Helen (Jewell) Heisler; daughters, Christina Heisler and Marie (Rich) Ames; 2 granddaughters, Sara (Elmer) Garrett and Jenni Baum; great grandson, Kasen Douglas Garrett; his brother, Richard (Sheila) Heisler; sisters-in-law, Barbara Evans and Shirley Heisler and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Jean Heisler in 1963, his parents; brother, Dewey Heisler and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Florence Jewell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Dr. James M Gysel of Lee Center Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
