Ellen Marie Mascho

Ellen M. Cortright Mascho, age 61, of Olivet, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019, with her family by her side after a courageous hard-fought 11-year battle with cancer. She was born May 10, 1958, in Lansing the daughter of Kenneth and Jannette (Beale) Hayes. Ellen grew up in Eaton Rapids and graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1976. She loved her family with a deep devotion. Her children and grandchildren were especially important to her. She never missed one of their sporting events or recitals. She enjoyed scrapbooking and quilting as well as many other crafts. Shopping was a favorite pastime of Ellens. She loved searching for the next great deal. Ellen also loved spending her summers at their family cottage on Crystal Lake. She worked for over 30 years as a licensed insurance agent at Ackley-Peters-Haubert in Eaton Rapids and Fisk Agency in Charlotte. Ellen is survived by her sons: Tim (Mary) Cortright of Olivet, Jordan (Angie) Cortright of Olivet; stepdaughters: Chelsey (Benjamin) Cook of Lake Odessa, Lindsay Mascho of Lake Odessa; grandchildren: Kaley, Madelyn, Tessa, Drew, Chloe, Christopher, and twin boys on the way; mother, Jannette Hayes; brother, Stephen (Mary Ann) Hayes; sisters-in-law: Sherry (Mitch) Snyder of Stanton, Shelly (Mike) Bailey of Stanton; brother-in-law, Larry (Char) Mascho of Saranac; mother-in-law, Shirley Mascho of Edmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and husband, Lonny Mascho in 2018. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at 2 P.M. at the Olivet Congregational Church with Pastor Brandon Hempel officiating.
