Emert H. Borgman of Charlotte, MI, age 91, died peacefully Monday, April 28, 2014 at his residence. Emert was born Jan. 27, 1923 in Walton Township, near Olivet, MI the son of Henry and Agnes (Schuman) Borgman and had lived most of his life in Eaton County. He was a 1941 Graduate of Olivet High School and was a World War Two Army Veteran having served in the Southern Philippines. Decorations received included the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon W/1 Bronze Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon W/1 Bronze Battle Star, 3 Overseas Service Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Sheet Metal worker having worked for Shouldice Sheet Metal from where he retired in 1983 after 32 years of service, was a member of Local 7 Zone 1 Sheet Metal Workers Union and also was an Instructor at the Sheet Metal School. He had been a member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church for 50 years and it’s Methodist Men’s Club, was currently a member of the Charlotte Church Of Christ and was a former member of the Bellevue School Board. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, spending time at the Cottage with family and friends and especially enjoyed family gatherings with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, Pauline; daughters, Gloria (Eric) Slaughter of Holland, Mary Beth (Randy) Boehmer of Battle Creek, Gayle (Simon) Lothamer of Gregory and Jean (Rand) Eaton of Bellevue; step-son, Michael (Linda) Bacon of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his first wife of 55 years, Virginia (Brandt) Borgman; grandson, Benjamin Lothamer; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor John Bailey officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Charlotte Church of Christ or the Bellevue United Methodist Church.
