Enola Nicolaou of Charlotte, Michigan. It was a sunny day on May 4, 2011 when Enola Nicolaou passed away at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility amongst family and friends. Enola Glen Adams was born June 29th, 1921 to Enola and John Adams of Natchitoches, LA. She met Andrew Nicolaou at a USO dance at Barksdale Army Air Field, Shreveport, LA and they married in 1944 at Brownwood, TX where he was stationed. Andy and Nola moved to Mt. Pleasant, MI in 1947 to help Andy’s uncles operate the Blackstone Restaurant. In 1950 they settled in Charlotte and remained there all their lives. They opened Andy’s Charlotte Café and then Andy’s Restaurant which they operated until 1977. Enola was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and loved to help at Church activities. Overall, she just really enjoyed being around friends. She loved joining her lunch bunch or meeting up with a group at McDonald’s for coffee. Enola has been waiting for eternal life to begin so she can rejoin her husband, Andy and daughter, Eleni Nicolaou-Sparks, who passed before her. She leaves here on earth her sisters, Mary, Betty and Bea; Sons, Peter (Anne) Nicolaou of El Paso, TX, Greg (Diane) Nicolaou of Cedar, MI and Phil (Liz) Nicolaou of Orinda, CA. She also leaves grandchildren, Andrew (Tonya), Michael (Emily), Elitza, Matt, Alex and Claire Nicolaou, Schad Sparks, Mari (Tom) Calton, Amy Campbell and Steven Powell. She also leaves great grandchildren, Zachary, Daniel, Isabelle, Cameron, Chloe, Trevor, Kirsten, Noah, Jack and Alexis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Monday, May 9, 2011 at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, 201 W. Shepherd St., Charlotte, MI with Rev. Dr. Carol A. Spangenberg officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Visitation will be held from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
