Eric R. P. Olsen

Eric R. P. Olsen of Charlotte, MI, age 75 died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Eric was born July 17, 1939 in Marquette, MI the son of Emil B. and Edna O. (Anderson) Olsen. He served in the U. S. Coast as a Marine Officer for 20 years from 1957-77 and later worked for 14 years as a Water Safety Specialist for the D. N. R. from where he retired in 1991. He was currently a member of the First Lutheran Church of Charlotte. Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Nina A. (Hawkins) Olsen; three children, Carol Olsen of Hazel Park, Diane (Mike Randall) Nash of Charlotte and Richard Olsen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 2 grandchildren, Erica Parker and Kelsey McNair; 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Lain, Lexie and Reese; sister, Jan (Frank) Summersett; sister-in-law, Elaine Olsen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Clayton, Donald, Richard and Russell and 1 sister, Betty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 20, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church, 550 E. Shepherd St. in Charlotte with Pastor Timothy Olson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte and on Friday from 10-11 AM prior to the services at the Church.
