Gale M. Shumaker of Charlotte, MI, age 90, passed away on Jan. 25, 2016 while spending the winter in Bradenton, Florida. Gale was born October 3, 1925 in Charlotte, MI the son of Ralph and Celia (Edick) Shumaker and had lived most of his life in the Charlotte area. He served in the U. S. Army 63rd Infantry Division during World War Two having received the EAME Theatre Ribbon W/2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was retired employee of the Eaton County Road Commission, had also worked for Pet Milk Co. and was a long time farmer. He had been a member of V.F.W. Post 2406 and the Marshall Moose Lodge. Surviving are: his sister, Clare (Roland) Franks of Missouri and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Joan (Cornell) Shumaker in 2008; 4 sisters, Ila (Donald) Klaiss, Lila (Maurice) Carroll, Velma (Hubert) Janousek and Effie (Meryl) Dillon and 5 brothers, Lowell, Dale, Arlo, Orland and Harley Shumaker. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Charles Jenson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Inurnment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may go to the V. F. W.
