Garry Lynn Bruce

Garry L. Bruce of Charlotte, MI, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Garry was born Nov. 21, 1946 in Charlotte the son of Thomas R. and Minnie L. (Garland) Bruce and had been a lifelong Charlotte area resident. He was a retired Spartan Motors employee and previously had been employed at General Motors, Owens-Illinois Glass, Diamond Reo, Ken Bruce’s Standard Station and LJT Well Drilling. He was a former Volunteer with the Charlotte Fire Department and was currently a member of the Charlotte Eagles Aerie #3552. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending his grandkids sporting events, motorcycling and motorcycle hill climbing both as a spectator and a participant. Surviving are: his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Lux) Bruce; three children, Edward (Becky) Bruce of Vermontville, Karla (Willie Conroy) Lilly of Charlotte and Mindy (Brian) Schriver of Vermontville; five grandchildren, Kayla Bruce, Garrett Miller, Kirsten Bruce, Chase Schriver and Kyle Lilly; his brother, Wally (Myra) Bruce of Charlotte and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents and siblings, Kenneth Bruce, Betty Schmidt, Elaine Packard, Robert Bruce, Thomas Bruce, Jr., Shirley Swan and Dean Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with the Eagles Memorial service being held at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
