Gerald D. Jerry Mogg

Gerald D. “Jerry” Mogg age 71 of Charlotte, MI, died Monday Feb. 15, 2010 at the Eaton Community Hospice House after an extended illness. Jerry was born June 23, 1938 in Lansing, MI the son of Cecil and Retha (Brown) Mogg and was a lifelong resident of Charlotte. He was a 1956 Graduate of Charlotte High School and all of his adult life had been involved in the grocery business having started in high school as a “carry out boy” to eventually owning his own business, J & J Junction Party Store. He was a charter member and past President of the Charlotte Optimist Club, had served many years on the Charlotte Frontier Days Board, was a former Carmel Township Treasurer and was an avid M. S. U. fan. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, all sports and the out-of-doors. Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Joy (Smith) Mogg; his children, JoDean (Mike) Snyder of Duck Lake, Jeff Mogg of Charlotte and Jayne (Rob) Latchaw of Duck Lake; 2 grandchildren, Jordan Smith and Grant Snyder; brother, Gene (Mil) Mogg of Caledonia; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Rosalie (Larry) Bazzett of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with John Bailey of the Charlotte Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in the Gresham Cemetery in Chester Township. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
