Gerald F. O’Dell of Olivet, MI, age 90, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 after an extended illness. Mr. O’Dell was born Feb. 13, 1925 in Albion, Mich. the son of Lawrence and Lottie (Morgan) O’Dell and had lived most of his life in the Olivet area. He was a retired Water Well Driller and lifelong farmer. He served in the U. S. Army First Armored Division during World War II, was held as a Prisoner of War for 9 months and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a life member of the V. F. W. and the D. A. V. and was currently a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church of Olivet, MI. Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Mildred (Waddell) O’Dell; Four children, Gerry (Becky) O’Dell, Garry (Sue) O’Dell, Dick (Martha) O’Dell and Ruth (Ron) Pufpaff; 7 grandchildren, Jeff (Kate) O’Dell, Greg (Anna) O’Dell, Jonathan (Tracy) Dingee, Rebekah Snead, Christopher (Lesli) Dingee, Isaac O’Dell and Amanda (Jeff) Hibbard; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, sisters, Mary Messenger and Helen Keiser and Brother and Sister-In-Law, Vernon and Jane O’Dell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Faith Assembly of God Church, 9800 S. Cochran Rd., Olivet, MI with Rev. Garry O’Dell and Gerry O’Dell officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM also at the Faith Assembly of God. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Faith Assembly of God or for Gideon Bibles. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
