Harold Glenn Sloan of Charlotte, died Tuesday November 25, 2014 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI. Harold, 98, was born June 16, 1916 in Olivet, Michigan to Ila and Glenn Sloan, the younger of 3 children, Ruth (Ed VanVleck) and Martha (Ed Preston). Harold lived his entire life around Charlotte and Bellevue and graduated from Charlotte High School with academic sportsman and leadership honors in 1934. Harold was a crop farmer, dairy farmer, Pet Milk routes owner/driver and retired from Aluminum Extrusions as a tool and die factory worker. He was a member of Charlotte Masonic Lodge #120 for 67 years, past member of the Lions Club, member of Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and was once recognized for donating 6 gallons of blood to the Eaton County Red Cross. Harold married Esther Zanger on September 9, 1935 and had been married 75 years as of Esther’s passing. Harold is survived by daughter, Karen Sullivan of Gaylord, MI; sons, David (Sharon) of Olivet and Mark (Chris) of Sheboygan, WI; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Harold enjoyed playing Euchre, Bridge, watching sports especially the Detroit Tigers, Lions and the Denver Broncos. He was well known to family as a wonderful writer of poetry but his greatest joys were his wife Esther and his family. The past 2 years, he especially enjoyed playing Euchre with his friends at Pathways. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Gary Wales officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the West Carmel Cemetery.
