Howard Robert Peters, was born to Alph and Clara Gable Peters on April 18, 1929, in Harrison, Michigan. He peacefully passed away on December 25, 2017, at the age of 88. As a boy his family moved to Alabama then back to Michigan, settling in Gratiot County. On September 15, 1948 he married Josephine Marie Inman. God blessed them with 69 happy years together. Their home was blessed with a daughter and son. Howard and Josephine were both baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on March 16, 1951, by Minister Glenn Litwiller. Howard remained faithful to his vows until the end. His dedication to hard work and persistence for only the highest quality workmanship earned him an unrivaled reputation. He loved his career in masonry, backhoe, and construction work. Many testified to his skill as a backhoe operator. He enjoyed traveling to other congregations to oversee and help lay brick on new churches. In 60 plus years of construction work he employed many, passing on his skill and knowledge to others. He was a patient man often humming a tune as he went about his work. He enjoyed a good laugh, finding humor in many circumstances and having many humorous little stories to tell. His life also had many evidences that the truth and the Lords way was of utmost importance. Each of his grandchildren were special to him and he enjoyed doing things for his family. He was very giving and generous to his family. Those left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Josephine; daughter, Sherry Thompson of Lansing; son, Robert (Wanda) Peters of Ithaca; 8 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Russell Peters of Ithaca, Ivan Peters of Georgia; and lots of special friends.
