Ila May (Lightner) Royston of Harrison, MI, formerly of Charlotte, MI, age 88, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the home of her son in Charlotte with her loving family at her side. Ila was born June 19, 1928 in Charlotte, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Silverthorne) Lightner. She had spent her summers in Harrison, Michigan and wintered in Bradenton, Florida. She was a retired employee of McGrath-DeFoe Printing in Charlotte. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother and was a member of the Maple City Post #2406 V.F.W. Auxiliary and was a member of the Needmore Cemetery Society. Surviving are: her daughter, Donna Royston of Bradenton, FL; 2 sons, Lyle (Rose) Royston of Charlotte and Ricky Royston of Bradenton, FL; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill Lightner of Huntington, IN and Raymond Winters of Charlotte and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Donald V. Royston; daughter, Ila Royston; 2 granddaughters, Sally Bowles and Shannon Royston and 4 siblings, Robert Lightner, Bill Winters, Ken Winters and Shirley Winters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Charles Jenson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Monday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Needmore Cemetery in Chester Township.
