Ivan J. Mott of Olivet, MI, age 84, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Ivan was born Sept. 28, 1930 on the farm where he resided in Walton Township the son of Laurel B. and Etta (French) Mott, was a lifelong resident of the Township. He was a fifth generation farmer on the Mott farm. He was a 1948 Graduate of Olivet High School and attended a short course in agriculture at then Michigan State College. He was a 4-H Leader for several years, had served on the Olivet School Board and the Walton Township Board of Review. He had also worked hauling milk, driving school bus and many years ago worked for a short time at the Wilcox-Gay Co. in Charlotte. He is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Patricia “Pat” (Burley) Mott; six children, Rodney (Nancy Howard) Mott of Florida, Terril (David) Gonzalez of New Smyrna, FL, Rickey James Mott of Olivet, Rosetta (Rodney) Lawton of Elsie, MI, Teresa (David) Anderson of Olivet and James (Kristina Angell) Mott of Olivet; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Phyllis Salisbury and brothers, Lawrence and Leslie Mott. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Douglas Hammond officiating. Visitation will be held also on Wednesday from 1-2 PM just prior to the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
