Jack Edward Tirrell, age 83 of Charlotte, passed away on March 29, 2012. He was born May 22, 1928 in Charlotte, MI to E. Kenneth and Dorothy (Bell) Tirrell. Jack lived his 83 years in Carmel Township, Charlotte, devoted to his family and farm. A graduate of Charlotte High School, Jack started farming in 1946, planting corn up until his 83rd birthday, he was truly a lifelong farmer. Jack married his wife of 61 years Marian (Gasser) Tirrell in 1950, and together had four children, Keith (Janis), Duane (Pat), Allen (Kathy), and Colleen (David) Sloan. He was preceded in death by sons Allen, Duane, and son-in-law David, but is survived by 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his brother, Donald (Donna Jeanne) Tirrell. While milking cows for over sixty years, Jack also found the time to be involved in numerous agricultural and community groups including: Michigan Beef Commission, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Eaton County Farm Bureau, Eaton County 4-H Fair, Maple Hill Cemetery, and spent almost every Thursday night with his farm friends at Wendys. He and Marian made many new friends at Tri-Lakes Campgrounds at Marshall and Orange Beach, Alabama. To anyone who did not know him through any of these activities, he was better known as the man on the tractor that occasionally stopped to chat. His family invites you to come share your memories at visitations taking place on Saturday from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte and for funeral services taking place at 1:00 P. M. Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lawrence Ave. United Methodist Church or to Maple Hill Cemetery.
