Jack K. Decker, age 87, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019, with his family by his side. He was born August 12, 1932, in Lansing, the son of Howard and Lettie (Knipe) Decker. On August 12, 1954, he married the love of his life, Donna Marie Barnes in Lansing. Jack faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from the Navy he worked for General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. Jack loved traveling together with Donna. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and fishing. Jack was a generous man, who loved helping others. He was a proud member of UAW Local 652, Charlotte Breakfast Club, American Legion Post 42, and life member of VFW Post 701 in Lansing. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Donna; sons: Lewis (Kathy) Decker of Spring Hill, TN, Steve R. (Janet) Decker of Spring Hill, TN; grandchildren: Shantel A. Decker-Fulton, Amber N. Kaylor, Lisa M. Decker, Lizz Thurber; great grandchildren: Alec Scott, Savanah Scott, Alayna Scott, Hudson Fulton, Alli Kaylor, Jewels Kaylor, Magnolia Kaylor, Aubrey McCabe, Willow Thurber. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosella (Jessie) Davenport of Holt; brothers: Edwin (Joyce) Decker of DeWitt, Lewis (Marlene) Decker of DeWitt. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019, at 11 A.M. at Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel in Charlotte with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating.
