Jack Weldon Barkley of Olivet, MI, age 85, died Friday, May 22, 2015 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Jack was born September 4, 1929 at Homer, MI in Calhoun County, the son of John Weldon and Beatrice (Crowell) Barkley and had been an Olivet resident since 1962. He had served in the U. S. Air Force from Feb. 25, 1947 until Dec. 5, 1949 and had been employed as a Tool Grinder for Eaton Manufacturing Co. He was a very talented woodworker, made and flew model airplanes and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Joyce E. (Thornton) Barkley; Six children, Jack L. (Judy) Barkley of Olivet, Joe W. (Mary) Barkley of Olivet, Connie A. (Tommy) Wooten of Elizabeth City, NC, Candice (Mark) Venske of Magnolia, TX, Debra (John) Maxwell of Olivet and Shelly (Rex) Mann of Olivet; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a sister, Ellen Bordnick of Lady Lake, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson, Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Steve Byrens and the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard officiating. Interment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
