James Arthur Vanness II “Sleepy”, age 28, of Lansing passed away unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born August 11, 1994, in Lansing the son of James and Patricia (Reed) Vanness. Jimmy adored his family and friends. He had a tremendously giving spirit and would give anybody the shirt off his back. He was always concerned about the needs of others and ready and willing to do what he could to lighten their load. Jimmy had a hearty laugh and smile. No matter the situation in life he always looked on the bright side. Jimmy had a passion for all things motorcycle. He was an extremely talented stunt rider and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Jimmy is survived by his parents; siblings: Ashlee Vanness, Jason (Alexis) Marciniak, Kristal (Patsy) Stowell, Kyle Peters, Jacob Vanness; nieces and nephews: A.J., Aiden, Xavier, Xyler, EmberLynn, Emilia, Alli, Masie, Addison, Skylyn, Mikaiella, Everleigh; grandmother, Vernice Vanness; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Arthur Vanness, Jean Reed, Ervin Reed; and aunt, Patricia Vanness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
