James L Butterfield Profile Photo

In remembrance of a man well loved and a life well lived. James L. Butterfield, born September 9, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan and died October 20, 2010 in Lansing, Michigan. Preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mildred (Bennett) Butterfield and his High School sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Suzanne (Newton) Butterfield. Jim found love a second time, to Wilma (Cummins) Krieter-Butterfield who is a blessing to his children and family. He graduated from Berkley High School, served in the U. S. Army, and worked for Mich. Bell Telephone Co. where he retired in 1990. He had high standards, set goals, and taught his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished, to set goals, work hard, and enjoy life. He had poems and songs that resonated his thoughts on life. “Somebody said that it couldn’t be done but he with chuckle replied, that maybe it couldn’t but he would be one that wouldn’t say so till he tried.” There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. He lives on in his children, Michele Butterfield-Juip and Gary Juip, Herbert Butterfield and Carol (Childs) Butterfield, Judy (Butterfield) Capitano and Aron Butterfield; grandchildren, Nicole, Lisa, Sylvia, Quinn, James, Joshua, Kaleb, Suzie, Aaron and Abby; great grandchildren, Anna, Aedan, Olivia, Ryan and many more to come; his sister, Phyllis (Butterfield) and Ray Jansma; many nieces, nephews and friends and Walker and Fencerow.
