Janell Ann Curtis

Janell Ann Curtis, age 68, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 2, 1951, in Lansing the daughter of Harvey E. and Eileen (Fineout) Ferris. Jan attended Lansing Everett High School and later obtained her GED. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed buying and selling purses, collecting Waterford Crystal, and spending time together with her family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren. She, as well as the grandchildren, looked forward to their yearly Christmas tradition of baking and decorating cookies together. Jan worked as a medical coder for Hayes Green Beach Hospital for many years. She was honored to have been voted as employee of the year during her first year of employment. Jan is survived by her husband of 23 years, Mark; children: Tod (Dana) Smith of Delta Township, Craig (Mindy) Smith of DeWitt, Jason (Angie) Smith of Charlotte; step- children: Stacy (Joe) Hart of Jenison, Melissa Curtis of Douglas, GA; Kevin Curtis of Lansing; grandchildren: Cassi Baker, Makenzie Smith, Chloe Smith, Cameron Smith, Jack Smith, Mikayla Smith, Martina Smith, Markayden Smith, Alex Young, Jack Jordan; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Roma (John) Smith of Lansing, Pamela (Dick) Dragisic of Lansing; brothers: Tim (Joyce) Ferris of Lansing, Gene Ferris of Weidman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kevin Ferris of Lansing; and sister, Joleen Krauss of Mason. A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
