Jerry Caudill was the fourth child born to Arthur and Josie (Bailey) Caudill. He was born in Blackie, Kentucky, on August 31, 1951. He has two older sisters, Maxine and Geraldine, and an older brother, James. Only James survives. Jerry, age 66, died on March 24, 2018, at Sparrow Hospital in the loving company of his family and friends. The family moved to Michigan in 1953. Jerrys mother died shortly thereafter in a car accident when Jerry was still a toddler. His older teenage sister and her husband, Harlow Watson, raised Jerry and his siblings. Jerry attended Shearman Elementary School, Madison Junior High School and Marshall High School. Some of his fellow classmates continued friendships with him until his death. He is described by them as sweet, kind, gentle, a great friend, handsome, and loving. After completing high school, Jerry joined the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Ultimately, Jerry secured a good job at General Motors where he worked for 30 years. He was a dedicated family man who worked every bit of overtime he could get so as to be a good provider for his wife and kids. Jerry married the love of his life, Lizanne Crull, on October 22, 1976, and they had two children: Joshua (Robin) Caudill and Sarah Crosby. Josh and his wife Robin have 2 children: Elizabeth, age 13, and Abigail, age 11. Sara and her ex-husband Dan Crosby have 4 children: Daniel, age 12; Morgan, age 9; Noah, age 8; and Cash, age 5. He was predeceased by both parents, two sisters, many extended family members, and most importantly his wife, Lizanne, who died in the fall of 2012 after a brief illness. Jerry remained close with his mother-in-law, Carolyn "Ging" Crull, who also survives. Though the loss of his wife of 36 years brought him great sorrow, he found love again in 2016 when he reconnected with a former longtime classmate, Vicki Sherman, who was by his side until the end. Jerry was humble, complicated and funny. He loved to play cards, fish, play golf, shoot and hang out with his dogs. He had a terrific smile and had a magnetic charm about him that made other people feel good about themselves. His range of interests was broad, he greatly enjoyed food, he was a staunch Republican, and he loved "Star Trek" plus all other science fiction. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 1 PM at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Jim Codde officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
