John F. Geddie of Charlotte, age 82, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing . John was born Dec. 1, 1932 in Belding, Michigan the son of Ernest and Nellie (Raymond) Geddie and had been a Charlotte resident since 1955. He was a 1951 Graduate of Morley, MI high school and served in the U. S. Navy from 1951-59. He was a Claims Investigator for Transamerica Insurance from 1964-1991 when he retired. Prior to that he served as a Charlotte Police Officer and then had been employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Charlotte. He was a member and Past Commander (1972 & 2009) of the Greenwalt-Flaherty Post #42 American Legion, was a member of the Legion Past Commanders Club and was a Charter member of the Legion Riders. He was an accomplished Saxaphone player which he thoroughly enjoyed. Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Violet May (Albion) Geddie; Sons, Phillip Bruce Geddie of Chemehuevi Res., CA, John D. (Ellen) Geddie of Howell and Bill E. (Tammy) Geddie of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren, Shawn & Jeremy Brown, Jason & Jeremy Geddie, Brooke E. Geddie, Benjamin Geddie and Brandi Clark and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte with Rev. Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
