John L. Rose, age 65 of Olivet, MI, formerly of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 after an extended illness. John was born April 21, 1944 in Lansing, MI the son of John Lorenzo and Juanita (Christensen) Rose and was a life resident of the area. He served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam era, had been employed as a Tool and Die Maker for General Motors from where he retired after 39 years of service and was a member of the Lawrence Ave. United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Surviving are: his wife of 44 years, Gladys (McConnell) Rose; 4 children, John (Dianne) Rose of Ithaca, MI, Mary (Tim) Smith of Boyne Falls, MI, Amy (Brett) Gustafson of Ewen, MI and Sylvia (Jake) Burkett of Bellevue, MI; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Juanita Rose of Charlotte and 2 brothers, Paul Rose of Charlotte and Bruce Rose of State Line, NV. He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Rose; sister, Judy Kozora and brother, David Rose. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, 210 E. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery near Olivet. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 P. M. and Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
