Kathleen Anne Krezan was born to William (Earl) and Sabina (Betty) Litwiller on June 27, 1943, in the old Alma Hospital in Alma, Michigan. She left us peacefully in the early morning hours on June 3, 2023, at Maple View Retirement Community near Ithaca, Michigan.

Kathy was the youngest of ten children, four brothers and five sisters. She received her education at the nearby Smith Allen School and Fulton High School, where she excelled academically and won first place in the cherry pie contest. She went on to Nursing School at Community College in Lansing, Michigan. She worked in this profession for many years, mostly as a nursing assistant for Dr. Johnson and Dr. Prouty.

Kathy married Joe Krezan on September 29, 1979. They resided on a small farm near St. Louis, Michigan. Joe and Kathy traveled together. They took several bike trips to Arizona and West Virginia. Kathy especially enjoyed their pickup camper which they took to California. “Pa and Ma”, as they called each other, stayed six winters in Zephyr Hills, Florida.

Above all, Kathy loved Joe and their home. They worked together in their large garden and her flower beds. Bowling with friends was a favorite activity. She appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

At six years old, Kathy was diagnosed with severe diabetes. This affected many areas of her life, and included open-heart surgery in 1986. Seventeen months ago, when her health began to fail, Kathy moved into Maple View Retirement Community. Joe and Kathy both expressed their gratefulness for the loving care and kindness shown by the staff there.

As a teenager, she found forgiveness with God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on December 22, 1957, by Newell Litwiller. Even though her life took a different path, God in his mercy continued to call her. In these last months, Kathy opened her heart, confessed her sins and again accepted God’s forgiveness. She left us with a clear testimony of peace in her heart and a renewed trust in her Maker.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Joe; her living family: Ardis, JB and Susan, Melvin and Joan, Erla and Alvin Schneider, Galen and Evie, and brother-in-law Bob Seiler; Joe’s family: two sisters, Ernestine Border and Sharon Brisson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends will also miss her.

Gone before her are four sisters, one sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at the Newark Mennonite Church with Ministers Darin Litwiller and Michael Litwiller officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Maple View Retirement Community. Burial will be in the Jasper Township Cemetery near Joe and Kathy’s home.

Those desiring may make contributions in Kathy’s memory to Maple View Retirement Community 4396 S. Luce Road, Ithaca, MI 48847.
