Kathryn June Dygert of Charlotte, MI, went home to be with her Lord on Wed. July 8, 2015 at the age of 93 in the loving care of her family at Escanaba, Michigan. June was born on July 28, 1921 at her home in Bellingham, Washington to Enoch and Florence Freeberg. June grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1939. June continued her education at Goulds Secretarial School. She then went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers. While working there she met and married Neil O. Dygert Sr. on July 18, 1942. They made their home in Seattle, Washington where they began to raise their three children. They moved to Charlotte, Michigan in 1952 and June became a homemaker. In 1961 June went to work for the Farmer’s Home Administration where she worked as a clerk in the Charlotte office and later becoming Office Manager Assistant in the Lansing Office. June retired after 20 years in 1981. June held many offices with the First Baptist Church, serving as the Treasurer for many years, Sunday School Secretary and Head of the Count Team. She also held vacation bible school in her home. June was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 60 years. June was an accomplished piano player and played in a band after high school. She also gave piano lessons to many Charlotte children. On rainy days, June would play “Name that Tune” with her children. June will be greatly missed by her family and friends but she is singing hymns with her Lord. Surviving Kathryn June Dygert are her three children, Susan Lee Farlin of Charlotte, Neil O. (Alice) Dygert Jr. of Charlotte, and Ruth Ann (Richard) Moody of Escanaba, MI., her six grandchildren, William (Maggie) Dygert of Watervliet, Wendy (Allen) Jarvis of Charlotte, Michael Dygert of Charlotte, Stephanie (Mario) Sankis of Round Lake Beach, IL, Michael (Anna) Moody of Virginia Beach, VA and Erika (Marc) Walker of Grand Rapids, MI. Also surviving are four great grandsons, three great granddaughters, four step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Neil, her two sisters, Elsa Anderson and Joan Zysset, her brother, Bill Freeberg, son-in-law, Edward Farlin and granddaughter, Leslie Moody. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Charlotte, MI. Interment will be in the Rosedale Cemetery in Walker, Michigan. Memorial contributions may go to the First Baptist Church, Hayes-Green- Beach Hospital or the Hospice of one’s choice. Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte, MI and Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County, MI are assisting the family with arrangements.
