Laurel A. Jones

Laurel A. “Sweetsie” Jones, age 61 of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at her residence after a short illness. Laurel was born May 11, 1948 in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of John and Nina (Chandler) Glover and had been a Charlotte resident since 1969 coming from Delta Mills. She was a 1966 Graduate of Grand Ledge High School, served as a Volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital, attended the First Baptist Church of Charlotte and was a retired Secretary for the Charlotte Public Schools with 30 years of service. Surviving are: her husband of 42 years, Don Jones; daughter, Deborah (Bradford) Rinckey of Eagle River, Alaska; son, Dean Jones of Charlotte; 3 grandchildren, Blake, Benjamin & Quinn Rinckey and her brother, Robert Hakes of Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Charlotte with Pastor Robin Crouch officiating. Interment will be in the Benton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte and on Monday at the Church for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the H. G. B. Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the Church or Charity of One’s Choice. Envelopes available at the Funeral Home.
