Lawerence Joseph Murphy

Lawerence J. Murphy age 88, of Bellevue, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Medilodge of Marshall. Lawrence was born December 11, 1928 in Eaton County the son of Joseph and Freda (Heisler) Murphy. On August 12, 1949 he married Charlene V. Rolfe. Together they raised their family on their dairy farm. Lawerence was a huge Olivet Eagles fan. He and Charlene could always be seen at nearly every sporting event. He also enjoyed both Michigan and Michigan State sports. Lawerence was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved watching them show their livestock at the fair each year. Easter was also a special time for him. He took pleasure in hiding Easter baskets all over the farm. Many times he did such a great job hiding them that he had to give tips on where they may be. He and Charlene always looked forward to their yearly trips with all the grandchildren to the Battle Creek Balloon Festival. Surviving are: children, Larry (Dodi) Murphy of Washington, DC, Mike (Lori) Murphy of Marshall, Cindy (Toby) Burnett of Charlotte and Terri (Mehrdad) Nekoogar of Washington Township, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Suzanne Devic; brothers: Sydney (Pat) Murphy of Olivet, Leon Murphy of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Charlene; son, Lynn Murphy; sister, Frances Weeks; and sister-in-law, Sharon Murphy. Per Lawerences request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in Lawerences memory to the Eaton Community Palliative Care.
