Leone J. Gordon

Leone J. Gordon age 88 of Charlotte, MI, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility. Leone was born Oct. 25, 1921 in Roxand Township, Eaton County, MI, the daughter of Ivan and Ruth (Smock) Haddix and had lived most of her life in Charlotte. She was a 1940 Graduate of Charlotte High School, had been employed in the Charlotte City Clerk’s Office and later Michigan National Bank from where she retired after 18 years of service. She served as a Red Cross Volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital, was a life member and Past Matron of the Charlotte O. E. S. #218, was a past Grand Chaplain of the O. E. S. State of Michigan, was a member of the First Congregational Church of Charlotte and an avid Bowler. She is survived by: 4 children, Doug (Cyndy) Cove of Holt, MI, Linda (Jack) Raymond of Kalamazoo, MI, Deb (Dave) Townsend of Plainwell, MI and John (Shirley) Cove of Bakersfield, CA; Grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Celena, Carli, Tierza, Sean, Sara, Erinn, Kelly, Nick and Josh; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, sister, Edna Mitchell and life long friends, Herb and Gladys Stacey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Carl Gordon; son, David; twin sister, Ione Green, sister, June Emerson, brother, Junior Haddix and first husband, Robert Cove. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Carrie Bloom Honduras Missionary Trip in care of Doug Cove, 2376 West Blvd., Holt, MI 48842.
