Lewis Franklin Young, age 88, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024. He was born May 30, 1936, in Charlotte, the son of Lewis and Harriett (Rix) Young. Lewie graduated from Charlotte High School with the Class of 1955. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Michigan State College where he completed a short course in agriculture. Lewie was a farmer in the truest sense of the word. He loved all things agriculture and had a passion for Oliver tractors. He had a mind for all things mechanical and could fix just about anything as long as you were not in a rush. He enjoyed his tractors, Ford Model-A, and working in his garden. Lewie was a man of deep faith and enjoyed serving the Lord in many different capacities. He always looked forward to his yearly mission trip to Jamica to help at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf .


Lewie is survived by his children, Joel (Brenda) Young, Christi (Nathan) Menzie; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bo) Klauth, Janelle (Jared) Brinker, Samuel Menzie, Gabriel Menzie; great grandchildren, Iris Klauth, Felecity Klauth; sister, Signia (Stanley) Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Cathy; second wife, Sharon; and brother, Charles Young.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bosworth Cemetery.
