Lloyd N. Parker

Lloyd N. Parker of Charlotte, MI, passed peacefully, in the company of his daughters, Dodie and Linda, on August 13, 2013. He was born in rural Olivet, on February 12, 1925, to Sidney and Otto Parker. On September 14, 1942 he married Lillian Kohler, a marriage lasting over 66 years. Lloyd served his country proudly, in the U. S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theater during W. W. II. His highest honor was being awarded the distinguished Bronze Star for bravery three times. He also earned two Purple Hearts. After the war, Lloyd wore many hats and had as many titles over the years, but his proudest was the title, Dad. He enjoyed his daughters and their families and spending time with them. He was blessed with four daughters, thirteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. They were all so very proud of their Dad, Grampa and Great Gramps. Lloyd was an avid fisherman and in his youth also loved hunting, especially with his dogs. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and painting with acrylics. He also was a member of the Charlotte Church of the Nazarene. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Dodie (Curtis) Toman, Linda (David) Wolfe, Marcia (Frank) Vandevelde and Mary Ellen Gibbs; his brother, Warren (Barbara) Parker; two step daughters; three step grandchildren; several cousins; many nieces and nephews and his best friend and fishing buddy, Brian Bulock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Otto, and his wife Lillian. Also, sons-in-law, Keith Garity and Rusty Gibbs, his first grandson, Steven Garity and great grandsons, Ryan Wolfe and Steven Cavanaugh. Lloyd has asked that no service or memorial be held at this time. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
