Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Louann Gawura (nee: Van Tubergen).
Louann Gawura was given life by her Creator and was born on February 9, 1945, the child of Robert Van Tubergen and Mary Van Tubergen (nee: Thieme). On June 4, 1961, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God and publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed, also receiving the precious gift of the Lord’s life-giving body and blood. On May 8, 1965 she received the gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, Mark A. Gawura. She was blessed with the gift of two children, Eric (and wife Linda) and Jill (and husband Russ), and two grandchildren, Joy (husband Ben) and Luke (wife Lindsey). God blessed Louann’s life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home, church, work, and in the community. She felt her highest calling was to be a faithful wife and Christian parent. Through the years, she volunteered at her churches – Our Redeemer Lutheran in Dearborn, MI, and First Lutheran in Charlotte, MI; also, at The Edison Institute in Dearborn, MI. She was artistic and “crafty”. She loved family and friends, gardening, music, camping, American history, reading, and other hobbies.
Finally, on April 9, 2025 God blessed Louann with a holy death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. She is survived by her husband, Mark, her children and grandchildren, and her sister, Susan (nee: Van Tubergen) Colson (husband Jim).
She is predeceased in death by her parents, Robert and Mary, and her older brother, Bob Van Tubergen. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister, Louann Gawura.
