Louis K. Collins

Louis K. Collins of Olivet, MI, age 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at his residence. Louie was born Jan. 6, 1927 in Marshall, MI the son of William G. and Elizabeth Louise (Kaumeyer) Collins and had been an Olivet resident since 1962 coming from Marshall. He was a 1944 Graduate of Marshall High School and had served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War Two. He had been the owner of the former Collins Clothing Store in Olivet, had been a bus driver for the Olivet Community Schools for many years and had served as Tax Assessor for the City of Olivet and the Townships of Walton and Brookfield. His hobbies included photography and radio controlled airplanes. He had filmed sporting events and participants for both Olivet College and Olivet Schools. He enjoyed performing music and participated in the local Civic Players group. Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Bethel (Greenfield) Collins; daughter, Lee Ann (Jeyre) Keen of Potterville; son, John (Brenda) Collins of Olivet and 6 grandchildren, Parker (Christy), Garrett (Kelly), Taylor and Madison Collins, Nicole Fowler and Krista Keen. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Marybeth Collins in 1960, brother, William Collins and sister Elizabeth Tessin. At Louis’ request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A. M. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Olivet Congregational Church in Olivet, MI with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. Memorial contributions may go to the Olivet College Athletic Department or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
