Margaret E. Whipple

Margaret Ellen Whipple, age 95, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, in Lansing. She was born April 16, 1929, in Ionia County, daughter of Elmer and Jessie (Megarah) Adgate. She was the sixth of eight siblings and, like her mother, she was a teacher for many years, earning her master’s degree in education before retiring. She was married to Norris Signs of Ionia, and later to Harold Whipple of Saugatuck. She enjoyed traveling and entertaining, and had many friends who considered her the life of any party.

She is survived by her daughters Kimberly (Dave Austin), Kelly (Robert Tovsky), and Kitty (Charlie Holmes), as well as her sister, Phyllis Jones of Grand Haven, three sisters-in-law, Sally Adgate of Grand Rapids, Joanne Adgate of Portland, and Velma Jean Hammond of Hastings, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the English Inn, Devonshire Room, 677 South Michigan Road, Eaton Rapids, Michigan 48827, with a light lunch and refreshments being served.
