Margaret Josephine Powers

Margaret J. (McClelland) Powers of Eaton Rapids, MI, formerly of Charlotte, age 100 died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Eaton Community Palliative Care. Margaret was born Dec. 5, 1912 in Richland, Ohio the daughter of Samuel J. and Rosa Bell (Long) McClelland and was a longtime Charlotte/Brookfield area resident. She had served for many years as a Red Cross Volunteer at the Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital in Charlotte. Surviving are: her son, William Duane Shumaker of Pennsylvania; caregivers/grandchildren, Roy & Renee Shumaker of Eaton Rapids; many additional grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Powers in 1988; daughter, Margaret Lois Shade and two grandsons, Mark and David Shade. Per Mrs. Powers wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Bennett Park on South Cochran Ave. in Charlotte. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Perry Cemetery in Brookfield Township. Memorial contributions may go to the Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813.
