Our much loved and admired Mom and Gram, Marilyn Jane (Seiler) Haynes, was the youngest child of Amandus and Sylvia (Schneider) Seiler, born on May 3rd, 1937, in Gratiot County, MI, to the surprise of her siblings. She gained her wings January 26th, 2023, when the morning sun announced her new day on the fresh sparkling snow.

Mom gave her heart to God, and was baptized on February 24th, 1952. Dad and Mom loved the Church and supported her. She was happily married to Dad (Robert) for 66 years. The thing she missed the most after Dad left last August was the prayer time they had together. Mom was known for her quiet beautiful spirit supporting Dad faithfully.

Their lives were blessed by serving in the Childcare homes. Through this they have many daughters that called them Papa and Mama. They also enjoyed helping with the beginning stages in Goshen, and in being an active part of the little mission church in Sarasota, during the winter months.

As a child Mom was a good scholar and valedictorian of her class. She spent several years working in the medical records field. Those clerical gifts followed her through life. Her record keeping was impeccable, even to the point of letting us boys know some of her and Dad’s wishes just a few days before her passing.

The grandchildren remember Gram tending her rose bed, Mackinac Island outings, hunting for mushrooms in spring, and her fresh pies. It seemed like when we carried heavy burdens, or the more we strayed, the more she loved and prayed for us. The family wishes to sincerely thank the Maple View staff for the wonderful care she received.

Those left to follow her example are; sons, Todd (Pam) of Carson City, Michigan, Brent (Eileen) of Guntersville, Alabama; eight dearly loved grandchildren, Jamie (Terry) Schmidt, Rachelle (Taylor) Giesbrecht, Jordan (Alicia) Haynes, Natasha (Eli) Iung, Trevor (Kara) Haynes, Aaron (Deanna) Haynes, Mindy (Steven) Jantz, Austin Haynes; 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Lois Buck; two sisters-in-law; Vada Seiler and Vada Litwiller; and four brothers-in-law: Jerry (Bonnie) Haynes, Kendall (Joyce) Haynes, Ed (Anita) Haynes, Carl (Rosie) Litwiller.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents, brothers; Bill and Don, and daughter-in-law, Carmen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at the Mt. Calm Mennonite Church with Ministers James Leid, Jeff Litwiller, and Deacon Pat Seiler officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Maple View Retirement Community 4396 S. Luce Road, Ithaca, MI 48847 and from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Mt. Calm Mennonite Church 315 N. Gratiot, Carson City, MI 48811. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
